He was not killed, as no death certificate appears. Peter Hart lists him as killed, but adds that he was from Devonshire Lane. Which if true gets one his Army Service below and the pension record shows he was in London in 1922

1915 Aug 15 Landed in France

1919 Aug 5. Discharged from British Army with SWB

1921 May 20.

• Ex soldier Edward Hawkins employed at Military Barracks shot and died of wounds in Cork on way to work aged 
• Ex soldier John Sherlock employed at Military Barracks as a lorry driver shot and wounded on way to work in Cork. There is no death certificate

1922 Jul 19 His pension card shows he moved to London - 21 Fairfield St Wandsworth
